Help Desk

In accordance with the University of Rhode Island's recycling practices and green initiatives, the Help Desk manages waste in the following ways,

  • All trash areas are organized by cans/bottles/aluminum/glass (PETE (1), HDPE (2)), paper, and general trash.
  • Used batteries are stored and collected by university recycling services to be disposed of properly.
  • Computer equipment past expected life cycle is dismantled for parts before being disposed of properly.
  • Printer ink and toner cartridges are stored and collected by university recycling services to be disposed of properly.
  • Printed materials are used sparingly, and scrap printer paper is often saved and re-used.
  • Staff are encouraged to re-use water fountain cups at least twice.
  • Known toxic materials are not purchased.
