A hard drive boot failure occurs when the system is unable to utilize the hard drive. This can occur when the boot options are not set properly in BIOS, non-bootable CD or DVD are inserted in the computer, or there is an internal physical error in the CPU itself.

How to Tell if your Drive is Failing

If your hard drive is making clicking noises, or makes noises other than a constant low hum, your drive may be beginning to function improperly. We suggest getting any important data off the drive and onto another drive, such as a USB flash drive or external hard drive, and get another hard drive for your computer.

Possible remediation

Try reseating the hard drive, and if that fails consider replacement.
